A calm, human, team building experience

Helping small teams slow down, connect naturally, and leave feeling restored, not drained.

The Mindful Maki team experience

Mindful Maki team workshops are more than traditional cooking classes or team-building experiences.

They are shared rituals that use simple sushi making as a way to slow down, and create space for team members to learn more about each other.

There are no ‘round table icebreakers’, no forced sharing, and no pressure to perform.

Just a calm, guided experience that helps teams spend time together in a way that feels grounding, warm, and genuine.

Who it’s for

This experience works best for teams who:

  • Are small (3–12 people)

  • Are new, normally dispersed, or rarely together in person

  • Want connection without forced sharing or performance

  • Are coming off a busy period, conference, or intense work cycle

  • Value warmth, presence, and ease over outcomes or competition

Who it’s not for

This is likely not the right fit if you’re looking for:

  • High energy games or competitive activities

  • Icebreakers that put people on the spot

  • Large scale events (12–15+ people)

  • Formal training or keynote style sessions

What you’ll experience together

The 2.5 - 3 hour workshop unfolds gently and at an unhurried pace.

  • Arrival at a venue for a short orientation to help everyone settle in

  • Guided sushi making using Mindful Maki cards

  • Optional conversational prompts woven naturally to support comfortable sharing

  • A shared mindful eating moment to close the experience

The experience is facilitated in a way that feels supportive rather than directive.

Why teams respond well to this

Teams often share that the workshop:

  • Feels genuinely connecting without being awkward

  • Inclusive of introverts and quieter personalities

  • Creates shared memories teams actually talk about later

  • Leaves people calmer, not depleted

  • Requires very little effort from the organiser

  • When we slowed down I noticed that I had taken for granted the feeling of rice between my fingers, the changing taste of food as I chew, and how much I value my colleagues
